We explore four of our favourite design moments exhibited at this year’s 10th edition of 3daysofdesign in Denmark.

On the streets of Copenhagen, 3daysofdesign crosses design disciplines to deliver some of the best in Scandinavian interior design, furniture, lighting, and textile design.

Attracting a global audience, this year’s festival offered a record-breaking program including more than 290 brands spanning furniture, lighting, accessories, and materials; all innovators in their field and all dedicated to high-quality craftsmanship with a future-centric approach.

Synonymous with the simplicity and functionality of Nordic furniture and lighting classics, Great Dane Furniture has brought the best Scandinavian design to our Australian shores for two decades. Alongside emerging Danish names, the retail brand is home to design pioneers such as Verner Panton and Nanna Ditzel. Together with Great Dane, we curate exceptional design moments from this year’s fair.

    Nuura

Located just a few steps away from the historic Marble Church in Frederiksgade in central Copenhagen, Nuura invited festival-goers into their showroom as part of 3DaysofDesign, with a preview of their latest collections and the opportunity to participate in their design talk series.  Part of their discussion program featured Dutch product designer Rick Tegelaar, who crafted the new Sasi collection x Nuura using his trademark delicate sense of aesthetics, soft design language, and the use of round and harmonious shapes.

    Verpan

VERPAN invited guests of 3daysofdesign to experience a hypnotic exhibition revealing a whole new side of Verner Panton’s most captivating work. From the undulating curves of the iconic Cloverleaf sofa to the awe-inspiring scale of the Fun pendants, the reframing of each prized piece captured the heritage of VERPAN’s craft and joyful passion.

Revealed in an immersive space located in Copenhagen’s central Indre By district, ‘VERPAN presents: The Celebration – icons of Verner Panton’ amplified and animated the designer’s radical vision for living and lounging, and each object was chosen carefully to best represent the brand, and it’s highly social nature.

    Audo

The Audo Copenhagen was designed by Norm Architects and founded as a platform for creative work, highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of design, and has been a Copenhagen design destination for the past few years. During this year’s 3daysofdesign, it made its highly anticipated debut as it embarked on a new chapter and a new union between Danish brands MENU and By Lassen. This merging formed a new entity that honours the Danish design tradition while embracing a modern perspective – all within a global mindset.

During 3daysofdesign, 2023, The Audo presented a century of Danish design tradition and an ever-evolving modern, global outlook at Audo House, where the true meaning of how we relate to objects and one another comes to light in a physical space and included historical designs by Ib KofodLarsen, Vilhelm Lauritzen, Flemming, and Mogens Lassen alongside new and modern pieces by Norm Architects, Colin King, and Danielle Siggerud.

    dk3

Danish-founded brand dk3 sets out to ‘Unite the finest carpentry traditions with classic and contemporary furniture design’ by delivering a curation of pieces from great Danish architects and designers, including Christian Troels and dk3 founder and designer Jacob Plejdrup.

The quintessentially Danish designs of Troels are characterised by his attention to detail and superior craftsmanship, perfectly paired alongside Plejdrup’s simple ideas for furniture pieces that aim to highlight the natural beauty of materials, such as timber, in a minimalistic way. At this year’s 3daysofdesign festival, both Troels and Pledrup met with guests over a glass of champagne to unveil the ideas behind their new collections of designs, such as Troel’s new Groove Desk and Plejdrup’s latest Plush table for dk3.
