If you’re a regular reader you’ll know we consider Hecker Guthrie one of the leading voices in the Australian design and architecture landscape. Their meticulous attention to detail and ability to craft modern day luxury is always a reason to pay attention to the latest project.
This week we share a new endeavour from this talented team in collaboration with JCB Architects, another awarded local studio. Developed with Goldfields, the 525 High Street project will feature 46 residences in the village locale of Prahran East.
Both JCB Architects and Hecker Guthrie were inspired by the culture and heritage of the area, imagining this 7 storey building as a harmonious addition to the surrounding premises with modern authenticity. The resulting design blends the charming characteristics of the neighbourhood’s period heritage with contemporary features and a highly adaptable style that positions the new owner with space and choice to make the home their own.
Features you’d be more likely to expect in a historic home (but are more than happy to see in a modern apartment) include an entry hall, butler’s pantry, fireplace and bar, while a cutting-edge kitchen, floor to ceiling windows and plush carpets ground the apartments in contemporary luxury.
The continuous marble tiling and features throughout the design add an additional elegant touch to the monochrome colour palette. And the aforementioned Hecker Guthrie attention to detail shows in quality details such as the timber veneer joinery hardware by Buster & Punch and aged iron tapware.
For those fortunate enough to score a balcony, uninterrupted city views await, while guest entertaining is simple with the ground floor of the building set to feature a brasserie and independent organic grocer.
In grounding the design in the neighbourhood aesthetic while bringing a new contemporary luxury to the locale, 525 High Street looks set to become a highly coveted place to rest your head. Hecker Guthrie co-founder Paul Hecker said the vision for 525 was to create “highly liveable luxury that is both functional and beautiful, real homes people will enjoy”. With this philosophy, 525 High Street is sure to add a new collection of homes to the beloved Prahran East village.
