The result of experimentation with Chilean artisans and their work with ancestral craftsmanship was the creation of the beautiful Terracota Lamp by Santiago based Abel Carcamo. We can only hope that this talented new industrial designer to feature on our radar, keeps up with his work both in experimenting with personalities of the artisans and their traditional techniques.
The irregular edges of Carcamo’s Primitivo designs with their pinched in sides create a play on light and shade, creating atmosphere and ambience in the starkest of spaces. With different finishes used on the shade coming in colours of gold, platinum white and black, the upper base of the design introduces different materials such as timber, and polished metals of aluminium, copper and bronze.
With so many choices – it could be a while before we can decide.
