The team behind Designer Rugs have certainly mastered the art of collaboration with local Australian design talent. The recent collection of ‘modern nomad’ inspired rugs designed by Anna-Carin McNamara references the Småland raised, Sydney based Interior Designer’s Swedish heritage.
With a distinctly Scandinavian aesthetic, this self-professed modern nomad has worked across the globe for the past 19 years. Choosing to design hand knotted floor coverings crafted from Tibetan wools and silk as her first foray into product design, Anna-Carin’s ‘Forsa Collection’ for Designer Rugs draws upon her childhood memories and enchanted youth spent growing up on her family farm in the south of Sweden.
With abstract patterns in the archetypal Swedish palette of pale muted tones, Anna-Carin’s collection of rugs sit as comfortably here styled up in a Sydney home as they would in her childhood Swedish farmhouse in Småland. Proof that there is no such thing as cultural borders for good design.
