Be it by the beach, further inland or in our cities, we are looking at a distinctly Australian way of embracing our outdoor spaces.
The essence of Australian living lies in our affinity with the great outdoors. Derived from the beauty of our natural environment, the Australian art of living is characterised by a sense of simplicity and authenticity that speaks to our lifestyle, whatever unique climate we find ourselves in.
We’re delving into the quintessentially coastal, urban and country art of living outdoors with the King Outdoor Collection. Designed with our harsh climate in mind – from heavy downpours to sweltering summer heat and everything in between – King has ensured their best-loved pieces can now be enjoyed while exposed to the elements.

Coastal
Australian living beachside conjures salty sea winds and sandy feet. For a coastal lifestyle best enjoyed outdoors, we’re lifting inspiration from Byron’s boutique beachfront hotel Raes on Wategos. From relaxed and tactile fabrics to tasselled beach umbrellas, outdoor living by the beach is ruled by a sun-soaked sense of effortless style, simplicity and comfortability.
Drawing on a palette of sand, stones and shells, barefoot luxury takes the form of the new King Cove Sunlounger, designed for reclining – and the ease of putting a glass of wine down shared with a fellow lounger as the sun goes down.
The King Jasper II Outdoor sofa is ideal for kicking back on after a long day at the beach. Where the whole family can join in on the comfort, the King Jasper II Outdoor sofa is designed to endure the harsh weather conditions with its handwoven King WeatherWeave® and to bring practicality to the outdoor living space with under-seat storage.

Country
Making our way to regional Victoria’s hinterland, we’re finding unpretentious, modern rural charm in the Red Hill Farmhouse by architecture and design studio Carr. Referencing the local architectural vernacular, the Red Hill Farmhouse tucks itself into the landscape, promoting peace and quiet and plenty of spots to enjoy the expansive outdoor space.
Outdoor living in the country brings with it a big breath of fresh air, clear, starry skies and gathering by the fire pit wrapped in a rug in the crisp spring weather. Directly influenced by the natural environment, forest greens, vintage linens, timber and deep, earthen browns encapsulate the palette of the countryside, together with age-old materials and a penchant for craftsmanship. This is captured in the King Cove sofa, where scratch, heat and weather-resistant materials take a modern shape with timber shelves.

Designed by Charles Wilson for King, the Zaza Outdoor sofa has stepped outdoors in its same elegant and sculptural form with a durable new composition.

Urban
Where the outdoor space is integrated into everyday life, design firm studiofour’s Davies St project is a case study for urban outdoor living. Keeping the family’s wellbeing front of mind, studiofour treated the outdoors as an extra room to open up and spill out onto, tailoring these spaces to the communal areas.
Designing outdoor rooms for the climate, with furniture designed specifically for these conditions, maximises year-round time outside. Together with making use of more confined spaces, urban outdoor living demands contemporary style and innovation, from key pieces such as the flexible, modular King Delta Outdoor sofa. For its refreshingly modern and organic form, the King Luna Outdoor Chair finds its place at the table, ready for balmy summer evenings entertaining al fresco.

The Luna Outdoor dining chair is one of the latest outdoor furniture pieces to be designed by Charles Wilson, with a vision to embody the Australian way of life.
