We came across the work of ceramicist Hayden Youlley this week and fell instantly for the prototypes of his matte black ceramic ‘Tessellate’ range. Originally made in all white, the ceramicist has also developed a pastel range of the angular holdalls, but of course our favourite is the black on black. Surprise, surprise.
In what began as an experiment in slip casting unusual shapes, Youlley’s creations soon led to a collection of geometrically shaped dishes as useful for serving dips, nuts and olives as they are for holding jewellery and any spare loose change.
Inspired by Youlley’s beautiful creations, we were led into searching for more black products to love and share with you here…

I love Lubna’s work. I first saw her tiles in an issue of Garden’s Illustrated years ago. When we were visiting London 8 years ago, we made an aponintmept and met her in her studio in Hoxton. She created a series of her tiles for me that I turned into small cocktail tables for our Palm Springs home. We love them and we use them everyday!Kurt
