We step inside a serene apartment renovation in the Polish city of Poznan, designed by local interior practice Agnieszka Owsiany Studio.
The owners of this apartment within a newly-established residential block enlisted Poland-based interior designers Agnieszka Owsiany Studio to create a retreat away from their busy work lives. Taking it on as a blank canvas, Agnieszka Owsiany Studio has met this brief with soothing hues and Mid-century inspired travertine and timber.
With a small footprint of 90sqm, Agnieszka Owsiany Studio director Agnieszka Owsiany opted for a neutral base comprising of off-white walls, light timber chevron flooring and travertine to maximise the feeling of space throughout. “These tonal colours evoke a sense of tranquillity, but also creates a versatile background for the custom-designed furniture and the renowned design classics,” Agnieszka says.
Situated opposite a botanic garden, glimpses of greenery punctuate the warm interiors at every opening. The kitchen is an effective use of corner space, featuring oak joinery, integrated Bosch appliances and a standout travertine benchtop and splashback. Adjacent, the dining room juxtaposes the muted kitchen colours with a set of grey Masculo Dining Chairs by GamFratesi for Gubi and a custom-designed dining table, differentiating the dining room from the kitchen in the compact space.
A custom sideboard in walnut wood nods to the subtle Mid-Century references in the living room, housing coffee table books and the Atollo Lamp 235 for Oluce.
Away from the main living areas, a wood-panelled hallway frames the entrance to the bedrooms, study and formal lounge. In keeping with the warm and tactile palette consistent throughout the apartment, the master bedroom elicits a calm sensibility through soft linen sheers, waffle-woven linen and ivory walls. A Burlwood freestanding vanity taps into the tactile nature of the home, while the wardrobe is hidden behind a pane of glass.
Agnieszka Owsiany Studio have delivered on a pared-down and cohesive apartment refurbishment; the perfect place to return to after a long day.
