We asked designer and style setter, Charlotte Lynggaard of Ole Lynggaard fame to share with us her TOP 3 (and just a few more) places to eat, sleep, shop and do while in her home town of Copenhagen, Denmark.

Pluto Dining here is a little like dining in a New York bistro – even though the food is mainly French. The energy, the pace and the people really give Pluto that big city atmosphere. At Pluto you will find larger groups of friends dining before a night out in the town as well as couples on a date. I can strongly recommend their cod and their wine selection is excellent. The first time I was there was for a birthday dinner, we were a large group of friends and had the best time there – the birthday dinner developed into a party itself, due to the great energy and mood.
Relatively new on the scene, Almanak is Claus Mayer’s (co-founder of NOMA) new restaurant and is part of the restaurant complex The Standard. The Art Deco building hosts two other restaurants and a jazz bar by the waterfront on Havnegade at the end of Nyhavn Harbour with views to Christianshavn and NOMA. We often take our international guests here for lunch as their smørrebrød are just delicious – definitely the perfect place to experience a Danish treat – both in terms of the simple Scandinavian décor, the view and of course the food. The food is simple and fresh and Almanak uses local Danish vegetables, herbs, fish and fruit in their dishes. You always feel healthy after a lunch at Almanak! During the day you will meet people on business lunch or people with their laptops writing and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere. If you come there in the evening, make sure to book a jazz concert ticket after your dinner – the concert salon is very intimate an cozy and is the perfect place for an after dinner drink.
Danish ELLE magazine hosted their yearly fashion dinner at and Kiin-Kiin and I still remember it as an out of the ordinary culinary experience. Kiin-Kiin is not your average Thai restaurant as it is the only Thai restaurant in the world with a Michelin star. Thai-haute-Cuisine at its best and the service is excellent. It is situated at the pulsating area of Guldbergsgade in Nørrebro with its cafés, wine bars, small hipster shops and galleries. While you are in this area visit Elmegade and Skt Hans Torv for an after dinner walk!
Granola, is a little café with a very New Yorker like feel. All the waiters are dressed in white shirts and bow ties and you can get a simple boiled egg and delicious oat meal.
A little like stepping into a little café in Paris. Decorated with long french tables and mirrors it is a very inspiring and cosy place.
A cozy place that has been like it is for many years, it never changes, and that’s great.
A hotel with deep traditional roots in the middle of copenhagen. As they say… “If the walls could speak, they would tell fairy tales of passionate love, lavish banquets and unparalleled grandeur.”
A beautiful luxury hotel in Tivoli that has a relaxing and international feel.
A unique experience. The hotel only has one room.
Fil de Fer
A fantastic boutique with French antiques.
Here you can get everything you dream- a great selection of international high end brands. They are both an accessory store and a clothes shop – and especially the accessory shop is beautiful.
Fantastic design shop with very selective interior design pieces and books
A one of a kind interior design shop & art consulting studio in Christianshavn.
and of course…the Ole Lynggaard Copenhagen Flagship Store. Come in and be inspired, sit in the sofas and just enjoy.
A beautiful, very relaxing and inspiring place. Definitely worth a visit.
Louisiana Museum of Modern Art
It is a such a beautiful building with such breathtaking nature and surroundings, fantastic exhibition and a really good shop and café.
Ny Calrsberg Glyptotek Museum
The biggest collection of antiques in Northern Europe and its beautiful Wintergarden in the centre of the museum.
