This weeks Bauwerk Colour Chronicles features the South African home of the Helen Gibbs, the dynamo behind the Helon Melon design label for both textiles and events. The expansive three story loft seamlessly balances modern, industrial and classical styles in an historical building that once housed Capetown’s Old Castle Brewery.
Here exposed brick walls, steel beams and glass structural elements are softened with layers of linen and french antiques. The open plan warehouse with a view also houses the Helon Melon business where along with the hand made textiles and handicraft range, Helen now cooks, supplies and creates food based events for parties with a difference in her very own home.
