Cosentino, a world leader in manufacturing and distributing innovative and sustainable architectural surfaces, launch a new stone collection in Australia, ‘Dekton: Pietra Kode’, in collaboration with renowned Argentinian-born and Arizona-based architect Daniel Germani.
Originating in Spain, family-owned business Cosentino first introduced Dekton to inspire the future of architecture and design by creating inspiring spaces where beauty and functionality meet in perfect synergy. The carbon-neutral and ultra-compact stone, along with its water, stains, and impact-resistant capabilities, has made Dekton an ideally suited material both as a flooring and wall covering solution. Celebrating these principles, Cosentino has launched their latest Dekton collection ‘Pietra Kode’, which reinterprets the timeless beauty of three classic Italian stones: Vicenza, travertine, and Ceppo di Gré.

Envisioned by global architect Daniel Germani, Pietra Kode is underscored by Italian craftsmanship and its permanence in architecture. The name itself is derived from the Italian word ‘Pietra’ meaning ‘stone’, with ‘Kode’ representing Dekton’s tagline “Stone Dekoded”.
“Collaborating with leading designers makes perfect sense to ensure we are staying at the forefront of design and introducing world trends to other international and local markets, like Australia,” Cosentino Oceania vice president Itay Shimony says. “This is the third collaboration for Cosentino with Daniel Germani and this collection is a move away from his previous, more industrial-inspired ranges,” he adds.

Pietra Kode reimagines three classic Italian stones with the advanced ‘Dekoding’ technology of Dekton, whereby the natural stones are decoded and then recoded, enhancing their properties to create new possibilities for architectural surfaces. “Daniel continues to be inspired by all things Italian so this celebration of the classic stones of Italy highlights their timeless beauty,” Itay says.
The collection consists of seven rich hues across three series; the Vicenza Kode series comprises four warm, neutral tones reminiscent of the earthen stone; the Travertine Kode series comprises two elegant shades full of nuances reminiscent of the ancient stone; the Ceppo Kode series comprises one deep blue-grey shade reminiscent of the beauty of the Milanese stone. “For this collection, I spent a lot of time researching each stone’s history in Italian architecture and reimagining them through a contemporary lens,” Daniel says.

Each unique series strongly emphasises sustainability, with 100 percent of the electricity used in their production hailing from renewable sources. Additionally, the carbon-neutral collection allows it to be used in various indoor and outdoor applications. “At Cosentino, everything we do is through the lens of sustainability; such is our commitment to our long-term environmental, social, and governance plan,” Itay says.
