Offering accommodation with a twist, The Dean Hotel is a former gentleman’s club in down town Providence, Rhode Island, that now houses a 52-room hotel spread over 5 stories, smack bang in the centre of the town’s culinary and cultural scene. The thoughtful and classically cool restoration is the work of ASH NYC, who worked with neighbours to ensure the buildings historical essence was captured in a way that also reflects the vibrant culinary and cultural scene of local institutions such as Brown University and the Rhode Island School of Design.
The hotel’s unique interiors give a fresh take on comfort and simplicity, while also working to its aesthetic advantage the building’s handsome original features of mosaic tile flooring and brick façade. Ensuring ‘white, perfectly fluffed duvets’ await every guest, the creative team at ASH have successfully married the old with the new using custom designed furniture with European and American antiques.
With the 52 rooms falling under categories titled The Patron, The Mates, The Gang, and The Heights, you can stay in a different room each visit and experience a new, individual character each time. Vintage pieces and one off art works, bespoke cabinetry and local hand crafted furniture with custom made soaps and linens ensure a truly unique stay at The Dean each and every time.
Offering several different venue for eating and drinking or both, there is plenty to fill your needs whatever they may be. Whether your after a coffee in the hotel lobby, a private karaoke bar (??!!) at The Boombox (what else would it be named?) or Faust (a street level based beer garden), there is clearly a place to imbibe whatever your mood. The perfect way to end or start your day when taking in the best of Providence’s galleries, boutiques, bars, restaurants and universities.
