While I can not claim to having visited Port Fairy for the past, well… 20 years, I have to say I am now looking at this beautiful section on Victoria’s southern coastline in a whole new light. After having to endure more than my fair share of car-sick inducing trips up and down the Great Ocean road in the name of ‘family bonding time’ while on leave from boarding school, I have been in no screaming hurry to reacquaint myself with that section of the world since leaving school. However, now that I am living in the southern state of Victoria again, and having just recently come across the stylish new coastal getaway, Drift House in Port Fairy, I might just change my position on the merits of a family car trip down that notoriously windy road after all.
Described as ‘unique, individual and entirely bespoke’ Drift House is the perfect example of modern day design melding with old world architectural charm. Design firm Multiplicity has created 4 very different self-contained suites using a mix of materials and differing configurations to create a truly luxurious B & B. Each room comes equipped with contemporary mosaic-tiled bathrooms, Jardan furniture, pure linen bedlinen and a coffee table laden with books and magazines to hole yourself up with.
For me, Dairy House appeals as the consummate getaway for a design loving, over worked, and over wrought mother. So I’m going to go ahead and plan that car trip…but think I’ll leave the kids behind. If you’re thinking about booking a getaway our friends at Mr & Mrs Smith are offering 20% off until the 28th of June – just in case you need more of an incentive to treat yourself!
