Get the Look: So-Cal Style

The sun couldn’t shine brighter in Southern California. The golden state is blessed with Malibu beaches, world famous surf spots and the desert plains of Palm Springs. Sprung from this dreamy aesthetic, the state has also made a name for itself in the design realm. That’s right, we are talking about So-Cal style.

After the Myra House by Gordana Golubovic won us over with its relaxed yet sophisticated identity, it was only natural we took a closer look at lifting the summer spirit from the West Coast interiors. Southern California has broad design influence, crediting the Spanish-colonial style and lifting cues from the sunny streets of LA and the culture capital of San Francisco.  Free of clutter and the restraint of trends, So-Cal Style is built on traditional materials and methods of making. It is the woven and the white, the timber and the textural, dressed by fresh hints of greenery.

We’ve collated a selection of well-worn and natural pieces for your own slice of the So-Cal. They do say West Coast is the best coast and we’re certainly inclined to agree.

Porter’s Rustic Oak Heritage Natural Timber

It wouldn’t be So-Cal style if a space wasn’t timber from top to toe. The unstained floorboards by Porter’s Paints are relaxed foundation to an interior of warm hues, characteristic to So-Cal’s Spanish-Colonial homes.
