With the new season shoe collection by Habbot landing in store today we thought we would share with those that are not lucky to see for themselves in person in the Armadale store or the Royal Arcade in Melbourne’s CBD, designer Annie Abbott’s new and the beautifully styled campaign art directed by Ortolan, styled by Sonia Rentsch and photographed by Scott Newett.
Annie gave us a sneak peak into these beautifully styled shots a few weeks back over one of our regular coffee catch ups and we were in awe of both Annie’s commitment to great, quality design as well as her commitment to great quality imagery to go with it. “Initially I started using ‘product shots’ for my campaigns as the budget didn’t really allow for talent – but now I will do still life forever! says Annie. “I just don’t know if we’d ever achieve a better result with legs involved!”
The latest Autumn Winter 2014 range see’s Abbot inspired by her lifelong obsession with argyle, tartan, check and houndstooth in all their forms, using rich leather tones and cozy woven textiles from the ‘Scotland of her imagination’. For this shoe designer the creative process really fires up once three contrasting coloured leather swatches are chosen and the palette begins to take shape. Mixing in a little textile component to link the final chosen colours together gives each collection its own individual character and personality. For the AW 14 collection clearly the Scottish heritage beckoned…and a little leopard print to go with.
With Sonia moving back to New York, and Annie having to firstly deal with withdrawal symptoms from losing her, the future Habbot production schedule is now going to be timed around the stylists visits back to Melbourne. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead.
