You may have noticed we kind of have a thing for Scandinavian design – and we think you just might too? The Hay ‘About a Chair 22’ designed by Hee Welling has starred in one of our Est Magazine trend reports over the past year.
With both form and function at the forefront of his mind when designing this model in close collaboration with Hay, Welling has successfully fulfilled the brief of creating good sustainable design that is both accessible and affordable.
Committed to promoting and nurturing the original works of young and upcoming talent, the house of Hay is forging the way ahead in the world of good quality, affordable design. Leaving even less room for replica knock offs when original design can be bought at the same price.
Graduating from the Danish Design School in Copenhagen in 2003, Welling specialized in product and furniture design. His predilection for simple, functional and refined designs is deeply to the Scandinavian design tradition and is evident in his aesthetic of clean lines and simplicity.
Available in a range of shells and frames at Cult, our favourite would have to be the classic white polypropylene seat shell in white with soap treated oak legs for a truly Scandinavian aesthetic.
