Evidence that floor textiles are comparable to art, we’re inspired by this assemblage of collaboratively designed rugs available from Designer Rugs.
There’s nothing else quite like a rug for unifying the aesthetic of a space, and over the last few years rugs have undergone a serious design transformation. Testimony that floor textiles are increasingly becoming statement pieces of art for our homes, we looked to Designer Rugs and their ubiquitous design-led collaborative collections with both Australian and global creatives.
Drawing on a cross-section of creatives from different disciplines spanning fashion, product design, interiors, and architecture we explore our favourite creative partnerships that blend boundaries to push creativity and highlight the role that craft can bring to driving innovation.
A medium in its own right, selecting a rug can warrant the same approach as selecting the right piece of art with design trends leaning towards the rich, multifaceted, and painterly. From the earthy tones of the Scribble rug designed in Australia by Hare + Klein and made in Nepal, to the vibrant shapes of the Desert Beat rug designed in Australia by Lara Scolari and made in India, we explore a curation of bespoke rugs which delve into colour, texture, and pattern.
