Est Magazine Issue #20 | The Gift for Giving Issue
This time of the year calls for endless lists to be made. A list of food to be bought for the list of meals to be prepared for the list of people we will be entertaining over the festive season. And then there is the list of gifts that we need to buy for others and the list of gifts we are asked to give to loved ones who would like to buy for us.
In the Gift of Giving Issue we have asked designers Nicci Green, Georgina Jeffries and Shareen Joel together with architect Paul Owen, founder of Hub furniture, Jaci Foti-Lowe and writer Yvette Caprioglio to share whats on their list of gifts both for giving and reaching this Christmas.
We take a tour inside a Victorian duplex filled with antiquities and curiosities owned by Interior Designer and Event Planner, Otto De Jager. After renovating his self described former ‘dump’ a conscious decision was made by De Jager not to fill the home with modern appliances so that his guests would come together and talk as they carry out such menial tasks as doing the dishes. A house filled with objects found, collected and curated, this is a home is filled with both heart and meaning.
Australian expat abroad Georgia Hopkins takes us on a tour of L.A by creating four different guides for four different types of travel. Whether you’re visiting the city of angels for business, travelling with family, escaping on a girls trip, or taking a safari style approach to the city, be sure to check out Georgia’s guide to here first.
