On a tree-lined street in the heart of the Meatpacking District in NYC’s West Village, an understated apartment has been given a facelift with an ensuing modest sense of luxury thanks to design firm Ash NYC. The Barrow street apartment occupies the entire floor of a character apartment located in an iconic New York townhouse row a stones throw from the Hudson River.
Illuminated by sunlight from both the north and south facing windows, the apartments interior scheme cleverly uses traces of colour in order to effectively add interest to an otherwise blank canvas. Natural timber and cool glass furnishings in the dining room offer a simple elegance to the room and work in uniting the open plan living space.
A bespoke kitchen with matte white cabinetry and Milas Lilac marble benchtops and chevron parquetry flooring add movement and dimension to the rooms all white colour palette.
Lurid white walls allow finishes and adornments to take precedence, while masculine lines seen in the choice of furniture and artworks are given priority and speak confidently in their spaces. Contrasting starkly to the rigidity of these qualities, chevron oak floors feature throughout the entire apartment bringing warmth and depth to the apartment while the slate fireplace further adds to the charm of the home.
