Leading Australian furniture retailer Cult Design launch the fourth edition of their esteemed Chairity’ project at Melbourne Design Week, inviting 18 creatives to reinterpret the iconic HAY Result chair.

Cult’s Chairity project will make its return to the Melbourne stage from March 17 – March 20; the event where leading Australian creatives redefine an iconic chair design. This year, the chair in question is Danish furniture brand HAY’s timeless Result chair, designed in the 1950s by Friso Kramer and Wim Rietveld. The final pieces from the exhibition will be sold in a nationwide online auction from March 16 – April 3, with all proceeds going towards a selection of charities chosen by Cult.

As part of Melbourne Design Week, creatives involved in the Chairity project have been tasked with aligning their designs with this year’s theme, ‘design the world you want’. Cult welcomes back returning contributors Adam Goodram and Toko, as well as 16 new contributors, including names such as Kelvin Ho (Akin Atelier), Claire Delmar (STUDIO CD) and Evi O (Evi O Studio). “After what has been a challenging two years, we can think of no better initiative to reinstate after a five-year hiatus than one that is centred around collaboration, creativity and a charitable cause,” Cult founder and director Richard Munao says.

The online auction will take place at and will conclude at 7 pm AEST Sunday, April 3.
