We discover Italian heavyweight Gessi’s latest hardware collections presented during Milan Design Week 2022.

As a key player at Milan Design Week acclaimed Italian kitchen, laundry and bathroom hardware specialist Gessi didn’t disappoint during this year’s festivities.

Celebrating the 60th edition of the world’s largest furniture fair, Salone del Mobile’s collective was focused on the themes of sustainability, circularity and wellbeing at home. A shared appreciation of these ideas saw Gessi unveiling their visionary Milan flagship showroom and celebrating their theme ‘Wellness through Nature’. Continuing this notion, Gessi’s exciting launch of two new ranges also played into this sense of wellbeing and was highlighted through their futuristic installation as part of Salone del Mobile.

After giving our initial line-up of noteworthy Italian brands to watch during Milan Design Week, together with Abey Australia, we revisit Gessi’s Milan presence. This time we explore Gessi’s latest design ingenuity and latest releases – some set to reach our very own shores through Abey’s Australian showrooms.

Gessi’s Origini collection in the ‘Materic’ colourway combines rich coral, polished black metal and brushed copper tones.

During Milan Design Week, Casa Gessi Milano located in the heart of Milan’s chic fashion district, opened its doors as part of Milan Design Week’s Fuorisalone fringe event line-up. Once an old cinema, the impressive 1,500 sqm building has since been completely remodelled to include an underground garden, waterfall and lush vertical vegetation. Designed to offer guests an immersive private wellness experience Casa Gessi Milano is a unique space where guests are encouraged to enjoy the complete range of contemporary collections first-hand.

Across town, Gessi’s ‘Green House’ installation was another unmissable event as part of Salone del Mobile 2022 and captured a visual representation of the company’s journey to environmental sustainability since its foundation. Taking up more than 900 sqm of space, the exhibition was centred around an established tree and characterised by colours reflected in nature. Illustrating ‘A virtuous ecosystem that represents Gessi’s vision of future living’ the artistic installation embodied an inspiring and future-forward space that highlighted Gessi’s new Origini; The Shape of Colour and Home Décor ranges.

Making its debut across both events during Milan Design Week, Gessi’s latest collection Origini; The New Shape of Colour was informed by ‘The union of archetypal shapes with metachromatic harmonies, created by mixing colours, materials and finishes’. Marking the playful return to colour and shape as freedom of personal expression and style, Gessi’s geometric Origini collection is presented in five iconic natural palettes, including a tactile powder pink, greige clay, ochre, coral brick, and agave green. The Origini collection explores the emotional dimension of colour through decorative elements and aims to inspire the customer to craft their own highly personal and original bathroom spaces.

Complementing their existing collections, Gessi also launched their highly anticipated Home Décor line during Milan Design Week. Intended to create various ambience and sensory experiences within the home, this refined collection of cylindrical shapes, from vases to fragrance diffusers, was made to work in perfect harmony with Gessi’s current collections and incorporates their uniquely tactile ‘woven metal’ finish. Evoking scents such as tropical flowers, exotic spices and aquatic marine nuances found in nature, the metal craftsmanship behind their Home Décor range provides another extension of how Gessi aims to bring nature into our homes.
