Halcyon Lake Allusion Grey

Designed by Sardinian creative practice Pretziada in collaboration with rug maker Mariantonia Urru, the Halcyon Lake Allusion Grey Rug is based on traditional Sardinian bed covers from the 1800’s. Always monochromatic and showcasing the traditional ‘Pibiones’ weaving technique, these textiles were covered with patterns involving various plants and animals. The Allusion rug is part of the Heritage Collection, an ongoing research project into classic designs and patterns in Sardinian weaving history. Adapting these designs to today’s production capabilities and color schemes, the collection reintroduces traditional, historical pieces and tells their stories.

Mariantonia Urru established her workroom in Sardinia, Italy, in 1981, driven to produce textiles using long-established techniques – and to revive some that were nearly forgotten. With an enduring dedication to exploring different methods of construction, Mariantonia’s expertise in weaving and manufacturing leads to designs that reflect local heritage in a contemporary style. The results of Mariantonia’s mission are seen in our selection of her rugs and cushions, comprising a modern colour palette and reinvigorated traditional motifs.
