Designed by Mae Engelgeer, the Halcyon Lake Uilas Blue Large rug takes inspiration from the landscape of the Colombian province of Huila. Referencing the interaction of two forces of nature: the river Rio Magdalena and the rough desert of Tatacoa in which the river flows through. In this collection, the use of natural sisal and the irregular edges of each rug represent the heavily eroded landscape found in the Tatacoa desert while the colourful wool stripes are reminiscent of the river running through the valley. Mae Engelgeer’s interpretation of this region in the south of Colombia captures the richness of life, colour and texture that can be found in the meeting of two dramatically different elements.
