David Umemoto follows a slow creative process seeking to imitate the erosion and re-creation cycles of nature. He reacts to our endless race towards technological improvement by taking a step backwards and simplifying his artistic practice with a commitment to the handmade, to plainness and with a resistance to progress. These are structured and modular pieces but they never perfectly fit together, a result of their willingly imperfect mode of production.
