Guy Detot was born in France but has lived in South Australia since 1982. Although he has always had a strong affinity for sculpture, he is also a professional dancer and his work reveals a deep understanding of movement, rhythm, lyricism and the flow of nature. The Australian influence in his work is clear; he uses as his sculptural medium red gum wood that dominates his South Australian home.
