The Nicole England Caringal Isolation takes place during the longest and darkest days of the Melbourne lockdown, Nicole turned her attention to the Caringal Flats, the heritage-listed apartment building where she lives. Tight framing parallels the sense of constraint she felt at that time when life was heavily restricted. Instead of focusing on documenting the Flats, subtle manipulation in combining, rotating, and twisting the images plays with the graphic potential of the built elements. Pushing the boundaries of perception, these abstract compositions use the building as a vehicle for emotional exploration.
