Vincenzo de Cotiis’ latest collection, featuring Untitled 41 Archeology of Consciousness reimagines the Renaissance sculptural ideal of the arch. Each artwork within the collection deconstructs and deforms the venerated notion of an arch as a perfectly conceived structure, prioritising a strong sculptural presence above symmetry and balance. The pieces are made from rare stones such as pink rhodonite, as well as Murano glass and reclaimed fibreglass, layered together to expose material variations on both sides of each curved piece. Hand-finished patinas imbue the materials with an artificial history, as De Cotiis constructs his collection as a contemporary ruin.
