Dries De Malsche
In 2003, Dries De Malsche graduated as an interior designer at LUCA school of Arts in Brussels. He worked for several years at ‘Aksent Interior, a renowned architecture office in the city of Ghent (Belgium). There he developed his passion for natural and elegant materials and the art of transferring this in a minimalistic way in every single detail of a project. In 2011 he started his own practice – at that time based in the centre of Ghent -in the living room of his appartement. Five years later he restored a private mansion of 1899 in Sint-Niklaas, which is now the home base of Ontwerpbureau Dries De Malsche.
His portfolio includes a wide variety of national and international residential and office projects, both renovations and new-builts. Custom-tailored to the needs and life style of his clients, he creates an art of personalized living, resulting in a singularity of each project. Each project is a common and shared process searching for the perfect creation of a calm, protective and inspiring atmosphere, reflecting tranquility, warmth, light and capturing the beauty in the interaction of all these elements. Use of authentic materials, such as wood, marble and stone leads to interior design projects shaped by purity, harmony and serenity. His work is characterized by a strong sense of detail, illustrated by the use of handmade custom furniture, traditional building techniques, not guided by trends and fashion, but lasting… with a focus on sobriety.
Dries works in close collaboration with various (inter)national artisans in order to cross-fertilize the beauty of arts, design and craftsmanship.
