Edmonds + Lee
Edmonds + Lee Architects is a full-service design, development, and architecture firm based in San Francisco’s Mission District. Partners Robert Edmonds and Vivian Lee—who met at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Preservation, and Planning—integrate a profoundly philosophical approach with a deep well of on-the-ground building experience to produce work that both sensitively integrates itself into the existing context, and offers new opportunities for reflection, work, pause, restoration, and play. Their work spans a number of styles and approaches; it is at once grounded in an ability to address structural concerns like budgets and local planning codes, and excitement about pushing the firm to produce spaces that encourage feelings of enlightenment.
Lee focuses on multifamily development, while Edmonds heads the single-family residential department. Together, they collaborate on projects that drive the studio to explore and understand the ever-changing urban fabric of the Bay Area and push each other to become as comfortable with the urban grid as we are with rural expansiveness. Each project aims for evolution, whether programmatic, material, collaborative, or formal.
