Architect Georgina Wilson says the original entrance was located on the side of the house, with no sense of welcome.”Guests would often come to their living room door thinking it was the entry,” Georgina says. “The clients wanted us to resolve the entry sequence and create an entrance with presence.” The front entrance now sits comfortably between both builds, nestled between the garage and the sandstone platform.
The architect says it was crucial the new building was designed exactly like the original building, with its simple form and hipped roof. “It’s common in Seaforth to have bungalow-type dwellings,” Georgia says. “It seemed appropriate in that environment to have two bungalows or villas connected. It ensures the home remains sensitive to the area.”
