Walking into Rose Street Trading, smack bang in the centre of the bustling village of Armadale, Melbourne is like walking into the Cheers Bar – if everyone doesn’t already know your name they will by the time you walk out of there.
Always excited to greet anyone that walks through the door, owners Cate Boots and Alex Muir along with their loyal, hard working team are always up for a laugh, a recap of your last holiday or weekend and an insightful recommendation of their favourite new pieces to land in the store from their last buying trip to Paris, New York or Dubai.
A favourite amongst locals, the Rose Street Trading Co. with it’s signature black and white awning does classic Hampton’s style like no other in Melbourne. Wicker baskets, bright coloured boardies for the boys, Chevron rugs, limited edition lamps and metal pendant lighting, linen armchairs and ottomans all form the backbone of the business to which Cate and Alex have added many decorative layers.
Supporting contemporary local Australian artists and their work, the insiders tip is if you like it, buy it, as no sooner are they hung on the show room walls, they are then sold faster than they can put the ladder away.
A few doors up you will find a fashion store, the sister to Rose Street Trading Co. interiors, where the girls have sourced a collection of kaftans and shirt dresses for summer, Louenhide handbags for all seasons with driving shoes to match, Walnut ballet flats and Sophie Moran knits.
