Tulum House

Designed as an immersive, fully self sufficient home, this beachfront hideaway on the coast of Mexico is the work of Specht Harpman and the team at Specht Architects. With offices in both Austin, Texas and in NYC, Specht designs residential homes like this Tulum house while also undertaking commercial projects for brands like Prada.

As a fully staffed, coastal getaway in the tucked away location of Bahía de Soliman, Tulum house (or Casa Xixim)  has four bedrooms that open up completely to the outdoors and the Mexcian bayside vista beyond. All rainwater is collected, filtered and stored for use thanks to a photovoltaic canopy that covers the roof top terrace and provides shade while at the same time generating energy for both the house and the greater energy grid to which it is connected.

The entrance for the ‘ecoluxe’ private villa can be found at the narrow path that leads through dense coastal vegetation and opens up at the large open plan living area that overlooks an expansive bayside vista. You can book your next holiday stay in Tulum at Casa Xixim here.
