Vaucluse Residence by Nina Maya Interiors

Featuring breathtaking Sydney harbour views, Vaucluse Residence by the team at Nina Maya Interiors is the epitome of elegance.

Once a dated and underwhelming dwelling in Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, Vaucluse Residence has been transformed into a contemporary and sophisticated three-storey home by the team at Nina Maya Interiors. The existing decade -old dwelling called for a need to restructure the floor plan to create a more modern and open-plan style of home for this busy family of four. A key modification to this was the the introduction of floor to ceiling glazing, which not only brought the iconic harbour view into focus – but gave the home a much needed injection of natural light.

A Gaudi dining table from Misura makes a good team surrounded by Thonet S32 chairs and overlooked by a Gregory Hodge artwork.

It was music to the team’s ears when they were given full creative control over curating all new furniture pieces for the home. Callibng for a fresh start the clients were happy to part ways with their old furniture and start afresh with a mix of coveatble European classics and more contemporary additions to the line up.

In order to create a home layered with elegance and charm, pieces were sourced both locally and globally. “Feature items were commissioned- such as the crystal and brass bespoke sculptural lighting piece that hangs over the stairwell and was handmade in London by the esteemed British Cameron Design house. Rare antiques such as the 1977 brass floor lamp by Curtis Jere and Italian ‘Barovier & Toso Rostrato’ Crystal vase add a sense of luxury to the master suite” says Nina.

A pair of blush-hued D.154.2 Armchairs designed by Gio Ponti for Molteni&Co add an opulent, organic shape which softens the surrounding architecture.

A soft, tonal palette throughout the home offers a sense of comfort and opulence. A focus on natural tones ensures the sweeping harbour views firmly remain as the focal point and complements the homes Sydney seaside surrounds. Hues of soft blush were introduced in almost every room, through various tactile furnishings and artwork; including the blush velvet upholstered Gio Ponti armchairs from Molteni&Co and Gregory Hodge Artwork from Sullivan+Strumpf.  This key design-led decision provides a sense of sense of continuity and flow and further emulates a calming, homely feel and softens the dark walnut timber highlighted through the custom joinery and timber flooring.

Nina May Interiors’ immaculate attention to detail, covetable curation of furniture and objects, bespoke joinery and unique custom glazing considerations have all transformed this home well into the 21st century. Sophisticated and elegant – yet practical for a busy family of four, this is a home that embraces both comfort and opulence, forging a home thats hard to forget.

Balancing out the bathroom, a pair of symmetrical Apparatus Circuit wall sconces add refinement to the master bathroom, while a Carol Crawford marble sculpture continues the reoccurring theme of organic forms.

An Articolo Float Glide Wall Sconce builds a soft, feminine silhouette in one of the four bedrooms.
