As days become longer and appetites become lighter (well, barring the imminent festive season bingeing) it’s only fitting we were drawn to this fresh, welcoming space by the Barcelona-based Scala Studio. Verd & Go is a local Barcelona restaurant specialising in custom salads. While the green tones may seem obvious, look a little closer here and there’s a sense of lightheartedness and ease that is harder to define. One thing’s for sure – this isn’t your average salad bar.
Signposted by the totem in the entrance space of the restaurant, the space encourages guests to first choose their salads (designed to taste) and then enjoy them in a comfortable, homelike setting. The rainforest shade of green plays out in both the geometric tiles and the actual greenery throughout the space, while a connection to the natural world is further established through the rustic materials such as Pine and Walnut timber and the wallpaper featuring vegetable motifs.
Beyond the palette, Scala Studio have clearly thought about elevating the space from what could have been a sleek (albeit boring) kiosk to a space that clearly reflects the values of its product. Just as the restaurant fare is always “fresh, natural and of premium quality”, Scala Studio have sourced all furniture from ecological wood, while furniture is kept simple and natural.
It may just be a small spot to grab a bite in the middle of the city, but thanks to this fitout by Scala Studio Verd & Go is an opportunity for a moment of green and serene amongst the daily grind. You don’t make friends with salad? Think again.
